Saturday, May 13, 2012 in Rome there was the March for Life. A friend of ours, and special envoy, Richard Carrara, has participated with a group of young Paduan. Let us ask then, how was this experience and what you took home. Hello Richard, you are our first special envoy! Are you happy? Special Envoy? What a big word ... are just one of many young people who participated Sunday, May 13, 2012 the second edition of the March for Life in Rome, our wonderful and so important to the capital. A young man who has lived together with other 15 000 people, a weekend than usual, it'll bring in my memories for a long time. Can you tell us what the March for Life? I want to explain it in a simple manner. I would define a special walk. The first term is the fact itself, on the outside (walk). The second one represents the content (special). The March is, in fact, a walk through the streets of the city. In this case two orette, step by step, from the Colosseum to Castel Sant'Angelo. At the head of a banner with the title of the initiative, immediately followed by a train full of children and so many other people. Try to imagine the scene: doctors with their white coats, children holding colorful balloons, adults and other children in their arms, some holding banners, flags ... then priests, nuns, Tibetan monks, young people from various regions of Italy and many others from abroad ... Nigeria and even with their traditional costumes and bright colors! What a beauty! All were gathered for one reason only: to say with courage, joy and love the value of life is not negotiable. That's why the March for Life is a special walk: it takes courage and much love to say yes to life with no excuses and no compromises! Who was it organized? The main organizers are the association and the European Movement Family Tomorrow Defense Life, but many have worked to ensure that this second edition would exceed all expectations. How many people were and where they came from? At the first march, last year, we were about 800, 15 000 this year. I think that is even more important was the style, cheerfulness, optimism and quality of all those who participated. I met so many amazing people. Most participants were Italian, the statistics I read say that after the March number of the most participated came from northern Italy, but the record as a city has obtained Benevento. It 'was then exposed and a great example to see so many people from abroad: from France, Poland, Belgium, Czech Republic and many other European countries. Even a delegation from Nigeria ... I think that just marched along with a stubborn 80 year old lady with one arm in plaster! Participation was open to all? Of course! Do you think that the value of life could be just someone? The March for Life is open to all since its first edition and as I already said there were also people of various religions. There were politicians from different parties and we may hope for a better future and a greater commitment to family and a policy that puts the person at the center and economic interests. The march, however, is nonpartisan, in fact, have not appeared on the way political symbols of any kind. This, too, emphasizes the opening of the initiative, which is all, all those people like me who believe in a society where nobody should fear for his life and where the life of anyone who might be accepted. What was the purpose that animated the people who were marching? The reason is as simple as deep as what we went to demonstrate and defend: the life. Today, too often people's lives are threatened. People can no longer see, he can not see in depth and many lives are dramatically considered "no lives", "not worthy", "no quality" ... are precisely those lives, those people most in need of help and support. Think about the person who is growing in the womb of a mother who does not accept it and not recognize it, the disabled, which is ignored, marginalized, untreated, and then there are the elderly, the terminally ill, the various people who are in different conditions of consciousness and that someone would like to eliminate. We march for all these people that some consider second division, but are not. We march for themselves, for their future and the future of our country, our families, for our children. Life is a non-negotiable value. You can no longer accept the culture of death. Finally, in addition to the Peace March, we march for life, after all how can you have peace when you kill defenseless people? What was it for you? What have you brought home? Do not you understood yet? It 's been an incredible experience, amazing. I never expected to return home so motivated, so happy, so optimistic about tomorrow. Still does not seem real that happened in those two hours in Rome. I close my eyes and I see so many smiles, so much hope, so many people who still believe that laws can change, it is still possible to fight for justice, for truth and love. And 'the life that allows us to do all this! I also bring home the educational experience of the previous day, May 12. The march, in fact, was preceded by a conference held at the Ateneo Regina Apostolorum Pontifical University, where he arrived with crystal clear confirmation that science can never be at odds with life, that the real quest is to save lives and not the one that gives up hope! There will be another of the March for Life? We have already given. Take pen and paper, or better yet the agenda with the 2013 calendar and mark May 12. See you in Rome for the third annual March for Life. Do not wait to participate again and for those who want more information we also have a facebook page for Padova and surroundings: http://www.facebook.com/marciaperlavitapadova There are not enough initiatives in favor of life, but there are, of course this is not the only one. It 'important and necessary efforts on several fronts and with many initiatives in defense of life from conception to natural death, may be several ways: running, conventions, conferences, shows, festivals, collecting signatures, advertisements, articles, books, movies ... Thanks Richard, you're hired for the next event! You're welcome Laura! It 's been a pleasure to share my experience, what I saw and experienced in the past days.
