SACERDOS INSTITUTE

The mission of the Sacerdos Institute is to be a center of spirituality and communion, of theological and pastoral formation at the service of the church and her pastors. The institute is directed at the permanent formation and perseverance of diocesan priests, conscious that priests are the portion of the Church most loved by the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The Institute favors reciprocal enrichment by means of an interchange of personal experiences and pastoral ideas among priests. The Sacerdos Institute also organizes courses geared towards priests and seminarians.

Description of the Spiritual Renewal for Priests in the Holy Land

The course is organized by the Pontifical Institute Notre Dame of Jerusalem Center and by Istituto Sacerdos of Rome. Its goal is the spiritual renewal of priests through a deepening in the vocation that they have received.

Organized in three sections, the course presents a biblical, historical, and above all spiritual vision of the places of the redemption of Jesus Christ. During the stay in the Holy Land, the participants are offered the possibility of celebrating the Eucharist in the holy places: Nazareth, the Upper Room, Gethsemane, Calvary, the Holy Sepulcher, Dominus Flevit, the Church of the Flagellation and the Ecce Homo, on Mount Tabor, in a ship on the Lake of Genesaret, Bethany, and Emmaus.

Among the many activities we mention the following:
-     three days of spiritual exercises, confrences on priestly spirituality, a seminar on biblical updating, intense liturgical moments, personal prayer, daily adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, time for priestly fraternity and personal study, ecumenical encounters and visits to the local Christian communities.
